There has been some discussion surrounding the San Francisco 49ers party following Super Bowl LIV — a game the team lost 31-20. That discussion made its way to FS1's Undisputed where hosts Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe shared their thoughts on the losing team partying it up after a crushing defeat.
Bayless, by the way, was critical of the decision while Sharpe was less judgmental. But that's not what this article is about.
What it is about is what rapper Lil Wayne, who performed at the party for his regular full-show fee, told Bayless via text messages in the days that followed.
"Wayne said he stopped the show at least three times, that he could recall," Bayless said, "to sort of half-jokingly make sure that everybody in the crowd knew, 'You guys just lost the Super Bowl. Are you OK with me continuing?'
"And he said they would scream that they were more than OK. And most of them were players and family members."
While that might give off a bad look, Bayless offers up a little more information on why Wayne was shocked by the 49ers' reactions to losing the biggest game of the season.
"The 49ers clearly had a 'Let's not worry too much about it' attitude about the game," Bayless continued. "'They truly believe they'll be back next year. The confidence, it was scary,' (wrote Wayne).
"And Wayne continued, 'I also got to speak to Kyle (Shanahan) one-on-one, and you could see he wasn't hurt or upset, he was mad as hell. And that's the energy of someone who feels like Super Bowl 55 is going to be marked on a calendar that's posted on his bedroom ceiling.' So it's the last thought before he goes to sleep, and the first sight when he wakes up."
