While Pelissero wrote that Brendel was "re-signed" by the 49ers, this is assumed to be an error since this would be his first time with the team. He was worked out, however, in December.
The Dallas Cowboys signed Brendel as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA in 2016. He spent time with the Miami Dolphins and last offseason with the Denver Broncos before a three-day stint with the Baltimore Ravens in November.
Brendel has appeared in 21 games with three starts over his four NFL seasons. The 49ers likely got a good look at the center during the team's joint practices with the Broncos in August.
