The San Francisco 49ers have a deep group of running backs but could add another this offseason. Running backs coach Bobby Turner had multiple conversations with South Alabama running back Tra Minter, according to Matthew Barr of 49ers Webzone and the 4th&Gold Podcast.
Update: Barr says the news comes from Minter's agent.
South Alabama RB Tra Minter (@Minter23M) has had multiple conversations with #49ers RB Coach Bobby Turner. He's also drawn interest from the #Rams and #Chargers. A small school sleeper to keep your eye on! #49wz

Minter (5-9, 205) joined the Jaguars after one season at Garden City (Kan.) Community College. He has rushed for 2,199 yards on 483 carries with 12 touchdowns in three seasons with South Alabama. His best year came as a senior in 2019 when he accumulated 1,057 yards on 193 attempts with five trips into the end zone.
Minter has shown off some versatility, adding 77 receptions for 657 yards with a receiving touchdown in those three years. His 161.9 all-purpose yards per game last year ranked third in the nation.
"He's had an outstanding career on the football field," Jaguars coach Steve Campbell said in November. "He's been a great football player doing a lot of different things for us — running the football, catching passes, and on special teams. I've been blessed to have coached a lot of good players over the years, including a lot of good backs, but Tra is special."
