The San Francisco 49ers would be open to trading veteran wide receiver Marquise Goodwin. Could the Dallas Cowboys be in the market for the speedy wideout? Perhaps. Or, at least, somebody like him.

Mike Fisher of Sports Illustrated speculates that the Cowboys might be a willing trade partner, as the team seeks to add a player like Arizona Cardinals wideout Christian Kirk or Goodwin.

"What would it cost to pry Kirk or Goodwin from their present homes?" asks Fisher. "We'd suggest something in the range of a fifth-round pick - with the understanding that other teams may outbid Dallas ... all part of the Cowboys' process of deciding just how much they need to spent on a player 'like' Kirk or Goodwin."

Goodwin had a breakout season in his first year with head coach Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers, putting up 962 receiving yards while hauling in 56 passes. His production dropped significantly over the last two seasons as he dealt with injuries. Goodwin landed on injured reserve on December 10, 2019.

San Francisco owns two first-round draft picks, but lack a selection between rounds one and five. Jeremy Fowler of ESPN today speculated that the 49ers might try to package a player like Goodwin in a trade down from No. 31 overall to gain some draft equity during day two, noting that the receiver's elite speed holds value.

Fisher notes, however, that all of this is just speculation at this point, and doesn't represent any insider information. Although, one media source he spoke with agrees that the Cowboys would like to add to their receiver depth this offseason.

H/t to Patrick Tulini for the find.
