The San Francisco 49ers announced via a press release that the team has waived safety Jacob Thieneman. The defender entered the NFL last year as an undrafted-free-agent signing by the New York Giants and then spent time with the Indianapolis Colts during training camp.
The 49ers Communications department provided the following rundown on Thieneman.
Thieneman (6-1, 215) originally joined the 49ers after signing to the team's practice squad on December 12, 2019. He later re-signed with the team on February 5, 2020.
A 24-year-old native of Noblesville, IN, Thieneman attended Purdue University (2014-18), where he appeared in 34 games and registered 170 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 11 passes defensed, 7.0 sacks, three interceptions and one fumble recovery.
