New San Francisco 49ers tight end Charlie Woerner joined KNBR on Thursday and discussed what it was like being drafted by the iconic franchise. He was asked what he already knew about his new head coach, Kyle Shanahan, and general manager John Lynch before learning he was headed to their team.

"I knew Kyle Shanahan from the Falcons, back a few years ago," Woerner said on the Murph and Mac show. "Also, I grew up watching some of John Lynch play, and I knew he was a really good GM now. I get that call, I was just so pumped. The feel like the 49ers was one of the best situations for me to go into."

The tight end, who loves watching George Kittle play, recalls watching the 49ers playing in the Super Bowl without realizing he might end up with the team.

Woerner almost didn't hear from Lynch and Shanahan on Saturday, though. While the 49ers head coach had his internet crash during Day 1 of the draft, the former George tight end was dealing with his own technical glitch.

He was understandably nervous and didn't eat much that day.

"Really, I was just sitting there, and funny story, my phone broke," Woerner shared. "Like, my audio went out on my phone. The 49ers called me, and I couldn't answer it on my phone, so I called them back on my fiancé's phone. It was just a big hassle, but they ended up drafting me, and it was awesome. My family went wild, and it was a lot of fun."

Woerner added that when he called Lynch and Shanahan back, they said they were trying to reach him.

"It was like the worst day for my phone to break," added Woerner.
