The San Francisco 49ers announced several roster moves on Tuesday.
Running back Jeff Wilson Jr. and wide receiver Richie James Jr. have been activated off of the reserve/COVID-19 list. That means the team no longer has any players on the list.
James, however, is being moved to the active/non-football-injury list due to the broken wrist he suffered in June.
The 49ers waived safety D.J. Reed with an injury designation. He will revert to NFI reserve once he clears waivers.
Reed suffered a torn pectoral muscle in June and will miss the season.
"That's a tough one for us," general manager John Lynch told reporters on Monday. "The earliest we might have had D.J. back was early November. It's a four-to-six-month injury, so that's been an active conversation Kyle and myself and the medical folks have been having. Ultimately, too difficult to keep a roster spot for something that may go into December. So we made that (decision)."
The team also waived defensive back Chris Edwards. It officially moved defensive tackle Kentavius Street (knee) and wide receiver Shawn Poindexter (ACL) from the active/physically-unable-to-perform list to the active roster, a move that Lynch said on Monday was coming.
