San Francisco 49ers cornerback Jason Verrett was competing for the cornerback spot opposite veteran Richard Sherman. Verrett has endured several injuries throughout his career and has looked good during training camp.
General manager John Lynch joined KNBR on Thursday and revealed that Verrett suffered a hamstring injury during practice on Wednesday.
"Jason Verrett's a guy who also has had a really good camp," Lynch said on the Murph & Mac show. "Unfortunately, nicked a little bit yesterday and tweaked his hamstring a little. So we're trying to ascertain exactly how bad that is."
San Francisco signed Verrett last offseason as the cornerback was attempting to return from an Achilles injury. He eventually landed on injured reserve with an ankle injury after appearing in just one game.
Verrett has finished all but one of his six NFL seasons on injured reserve. During that healthy 2015 campaign, he played well enough to earn a Pro Bowl selection.
