Defensive end Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah worked out for the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday, but left the team's facility in Santa Clara without a contract, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The NFL insider noted that the two sides were unable to agree on a deal.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked about Ansah during a Zoom call on Monday.

"I've always been a fan of Ziggy," Shanahan said. "Playing against him and stuff, he's always been a real good player. With (defensive line coach) Kris (Kocurek) having such a good relationship with him over the years, coaching him in Detroit, so we've always kept in contact with him.

"I don't know what the plan is yet, but we're bringing him in tomorrow to work him out, see where he's at, and we'll see how it goes."

It sounds like Ansah will continue to wait and see if he can find a better situation elsewhere or if the 49ers decide to up their offer.

Ansah has recorded 228 tackles, 50.5 sacks, four passes defensed, and 12 forced fumbles through his seven NFL seasons. He registered 18 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two passes defensed, and two forced fumbles through 11 games with the Seahawks in 2019.

This was the defender's second visit with the 49ers. San Francisco reportedly evaluated Ansah in August during training camp but opted to sign defensive end Dion Jordan instead.

Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle notes that a failure to agree on a contract was the reason behind Ansah not signing in August.
