The San Francisco 49ers (2-2) haven't won a home game yet this season. They hope to do so on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins (1-3) and climb above .500. Kyle Shanahan's squad is coming off a disappointing upset 25-20 defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Dolphins are coming off a 31-23 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and their only win has come against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

San Francisco opened as 8.5-point favorites in the upcoming matchup, according to BetMGM.

The 49ers continue to limp through the early part of their schedule. They have been without several key starters over the past couple of weeks, including quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and running back Raheem Mostert on offense, and cornerback Richard Sherman on defense. We'll find out today if the team has a chance to get any of those players back this week.

"I know he'll have a good workout here Monday and Tuesday, and hopefully he'll be good to go for Wednesday, but I'm not sure yet," Shanahan said of Garoppolo's status.

As for the others, Shanahan didn't sound overly optimistic on Monday about their chances but didn't rule out any possibility. Sherman said this week that his goal is actually to return for the 49ers' Week 6 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

Along the defensive line, the team has lost Nick Bosa (knee) and Solomon Thomas (knee) for the year and placed Dee Ford (back) on injured reserve. Ezekiel Ansah will have surgery and be placed on injured reserve after suffering a biceps tear on Sunday night.

The good news is that some injured players are making their ways back. Tight end George Kittle returned on Sunday night and made his presence known. He hauled in 15 passes for 183 yards with a score against the Eagles.

San Francisco also got back wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who has been sidelined since suffering a Jones fracture in June. He had three catches for 25 yards on Sunday night and had another 10 yards rushing.

Kickoff between the 49ers and Dolphins from Levi's Stadium is scheduled for Sunday at 1:05 p.m. PT.
