San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk joined KNBR on Tuesday morning as his team prepares to play the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. The versatile offensive weapon expressed his fondness for playing in head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense.
"From the first snap that I took, just being with Kyle, every time he calls a play, everybody just has complete confidence of what he wants to do, what he is trying to get done when he calls a play," Aiyuk explained on the Murph & Mac show. "That's a thrill, whenever you hear him call a play that's going to you, you autumnally know and believe that's going to work. So, that's definitely exciting as a receiver or just anybody on our offense, just to know that we feel like every single thing that we can do, and we have, is going to work."
Aiyuk has hauled in 28 receptions for 371 yards with two touchdowns through seven games this season. He's also carried the football four times for 69 rushing yards with two rushing scores.
Aiyuk's eight-catch, 91-yard, and one-touchdown performance during Sunday's 37-27 defeat in Seattle earned him a second Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Week Award nomination. He previously won the award following a Week 3 victory over the New York Giants.
"So, to just be with [Shanahan], it's been awesome," Aiyuk added. "And then the motions — a lot of people talk about the motions. It's something that we talk about a lot, and we do a lot. So, it's definitely fun. I definitely love being in this offense."
