The San Francisco 49ers have announced that VP of player personnel Adam Peters has been promoted to assistant general manager.

"Adam has earned this promotion, which is a result of his hard work and dedication to the 49er Way," said Lynch via a statement issued by the team. "He has been a tremendous asset to our team and we look forward to Adam continuing to play an integral role in all aspects of football operations in our quest to compete for championships."

Peters has spent the past four seasons with the 49ers, working closely with general manager John Lynch to build a roster that reached the Super Bowl during the 2019 season. Peters was a candidate this offseason for the general manager job with the Carolina Panthers. The team ultimately hired former Seattle Seahawks VP of football operations Scott Fitterer.

Peters was among the first hires by Lynch, who joined the team on January 29, 2017. Peters was hired two days later after spending his previous eight seasons (2009-16) with the Denver Broncos, where he served as the Broncos' director of college scouting in 2016. He was Denver's assistant director of college scouting from 2014 until 2015 following three years as a national scout and two seasons scouting the Western region for Denver.

Peters was reportedly integral in acquiring players who made up the Broncos' Super Bowl 50 championship roster.

Before his time in Denver, Peters spent six years (2003-08) with the New England Patriots. In his first two seasons with the Patriots as a scouting assistant, he was a part of two Super Bowl championships (XXXVIII in 2003 and XXXIX in 2004). In 2005, he handled pro scouting duties for the team before serving his final three seasons (2006-08) with the Patriots as an area scout.
