Marquise Goodwin returned to the San Francisco 49ers ... for about a day. On Tuesday, the receiver reverted back to San Francisco from the Philadelphia Eagles due to the terms of his contract. The 49ers traded Goodwin during last year's draft, exchanging sixth-round draft picks with the Eagles.
On Wednesday, San Francisco released Goodwin from the reserve/opt-out list, which was expected. The team was able to do so without any financial penalty. However, the 49ers did lose a seventh-round draft pick in the process. They had to surrender it to the Eagles since Goodwin did not play a snap last season. He opted out due to COVID-19 concerns.
That leaves the 49ers with nine total selections in the upcoming draft rather than ten.
