Like any rookie, 49ers offensive lineman and fifth-round pick Jaylon Moore will have his share of challenges as he becomes acclimated to life in the NFL. But fortunately, he's been able to lean on the advice of a handful of NFL veterans as he prepares to make the jump from Western Michigan University to professional football.

Moore spoke with reporters on Wednesday as he and other rookies arrived at 49ers facilities for rookie minicamp this weekend (Friday-Saturday). Among the topics Moore discussed was his relationship with NFL offensive linemen and Western Michigan products Chukwuma Okorafor (Pittsburgh Steelers), Taylor Moton (Carolina Panthers), and Luke Juriga (Philadelphia Eagles).

Okorafor in particular is someone Moore has learned a lot from after establishing a connection with him while at Western Michigan. Moton and Juriga have been able to chip in their two cents as well.

"I talk to those guys a lot, especially Chuks with the Steelers," Moore said. "We worked out a few times last offseason. He really helped me on my game, especially going into my senior season. And also Taylor (Moton) and Luke Juriga. I talk to them and they definitely give me pointers and help me a lot throughout this process."

Moore will also have the opportunity to learn from some standout veterans with the 49ers, particularly Trent Williams and Alex Mack. He hasn't had the chance to speak to either of them but will get the opportunity soon enough.

"I haven't talked to them just yet but in due time. I'm very excited to get to learn from those dudes," Moore said.

Moore played tackle during his college days at Western Michigan but is expected to get a look at guard for the 49ers, at least initially.

"We've had a few conversations about it, but at the end of the day, I feel like they're going to put me in the best position to be successful on the field," Moore said.
