San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance, the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft, stepped onto the field in Santa Clara for the first of three practices during the team's rookie minicamp. The Friday afternoon session is the only one that will be open to the media, and it gave reporters their first opportunity to get a look at the former North Dakota State star.
Matt Barrows of The Athletic seemed to sum things up well with the following tweet.

He's big.

Other media members shared some video of Lance tossing the football at the 49ers' facilities for the first time, not counting any throws during a morning walkthrough that took place hours earlier.

Lance has not played in a game since October 3, 2020. It was his only outing last season, and the young quarterback has been eager to get back on the football field. Until today, Lance has been working to absorb his new NFL playbook.
"The playbook was fun," Lance told reporters before practice. "I've been looking forward to learning a new playbook, and obviously, it's an NFL playbook, so it's going to be a lot. But for me, I've been waiting to learn a new playbook for the last seven-eight months, so it was a ton of fun to finally be able to get into it."
The rookie minicamp will continue on Saturday and conclude on Sunday.
