Today, the San Francisco 49ers announced the dates and times of the team's three preseason games. We already knew the opponents, which were revealed during the 2021 NFL schedule release.
San Francisco's first exhibition game will be at Levi's Stadium against the Kansas City Chiefs. It will close out the preseason at home against the Las Vegas Raiders. Sandwiched between the two games is a road matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The game against the Raiders is the first preseason matchup between the two teams since the series was canceled after violence erupted between the two fanbases in 2011. The 49ers and Raiders faced each other in an annual exhibition matchup for 11 consecutive seasons between 2001 and 2011.
The preseason schedule has been reduced to three games after the NFL added a 17th game to each team's regular-season schedule.
Below are the dates and times of the 49ers' three preseason matchups. All three games will be televised locally on KPIX 5. They will likely offer fans their first look at rookie quarterback Trey Lance in his first in-game action since an October 3, 2020 game with North Dakota State.
