Josina Anderson reports that the San Francisco 49ers are among the teams that made preliminary inquiries about Indianapolis Colts running back Marlon Mack over the last few weeks. The other teams mentioned are the Kansas City Chiefs, Carolina Panthers, and New Orleans Saints.
I'm told the #Chiefs, #Panthers, #49ers &/t #Saints are among teams that made preliminary inquiries for #Colts RB Marlon Mack over the last few weeks. Any teams potentially dealing for Mack would acquire his 2021 base salary of $1M fully guaranteed (prorated), per league source.

Mack's role has been reduced due to the presence of Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines. Last month, Mack and the Colts mutually agreed to seek a trade as the fifth-year back looks to own a more significant role with a team.
Mack rushed for 1,091 yards and eight rushing touchdowns for the Colts in 2019 and had 908 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns a season earlier. His 2020 campaign ended early after the running back landed on injured reserve due to a torn Achilles.
Mack has just 25 carries for 97 yards through four games this season.
San Francisco lost its starting running back, Raheem Mostert, for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury. The team drafted two running backs — Trey Sermon and Elijah Mitchell — in April.
The 49ers opened the practice window for running back JaMycal Hasty this week. He is expected to be activated from injured reserve soon, possibly before Sunday's matchup against the Colts.
