Jimmy Garoppolo surpassed 10,000 career passing yards in Week 11 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Three games later, he enters the San Francisco 49ers record books.

Garoppolo entered Week 14's matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, needing just seven passing yards to reach 10,000 passing yards as a member of the 49ers. He did so in 43 games, which means the quarterback accomplished the feat quicker than any other player in franchise history. Garoppolo broke Jeff Garcia's record of 44 games with the 49ers to reach 10,000 passing yards.

Garoppolo reached the 10,000 passing yards mark on the 49ers' second drive of the game on a seven-yard pass to wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

Fewest games to 10,000 passing yards with the 49ers:

  1. Jimmy Garoppolo, 43
  2. Jeff Garcia, 44
  3. Colin Kaepernick, 56
  4. Alex Smith, 58
  5. Joe Montana, 64

Garoppolo also became one of only eight quarterbacks in franchise history to reach 10,000 passing yards. The others are Joe Montana, John Brodie, Steve Young, Jeff Garcia, Y.A. Tittle, Alex Smith, and Colin Kaepernick.

Garoppolo is in his fifth season with the 49ers. He spent three-and-a-half seasons with the New England Patriots before arriving in the Bay Area via a mid-season trade in 2017.
