The Miami Dolphins requested to interview San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel for their head coaching vacancy. Obviously, that's a big opportunity for the 38-year-old coach in his first season as an offensive coordinator. However, the valuable knowledge he has learned from head coach Kyle Shanahan could soon make him a hot commodity.
McDaniel doesn't have time to think about any of that right now, though. Instead, he's focused on Sunday's road playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys. After Thursday's practice, the coordinator was asked about juggling preparing for the game and thinking about the head coaching opportunity, and his response should set 49ers fans' minds at ease.
"Yeah, it has [come to my attention], but as far as juggling, there is no juggling," McDaniel said. "It's about the Dallas Cowboys and the 49ers offense going down there and performing, and the 49ers team doing whatever it takes to try to get a W against a very good football team. And that's it."
The Cowboys are currently three-point favorites in the Wild Card matchup. Kickoff between the two teams is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
