The San Francisco 49ers are bringing back defensive end Kerry Hyder on a one-year deal, per Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network. The contract is worth $1.5 million with $750,000 guaranteed and $750,000 in sack incentives.

ESPN's Field Yates confirmed the report.

The New York Jets signed Hyder (6-2, 275) as an undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech in 2014. He spent 2020 with the 49ers before leaving for the Seattle Seahawks as a free agent. The Seahawks released the defensive lineman on March 18.

Hyder, 30, registered 33 tackles, three tackles for a loss, 11 quarterback hits, and 1.5 sacks through 15 game appearances (seven starts) with the Seahawks last season, per Pro Football Reference.

Hyder has recorded 141 tackles, 28 tackles for a loss, 54 quarterback hits, 20 sacks, and a pass defensed in 71 game appearances (23 starts) through his six NFL seasons. His best season was his 2020 campaign with San Francisco and defensive line coach Kris Kocurek. Hyder led the team in sacks with 8.5 while registering 49 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, 18 quarterback hits, and a fumble recovery.
