Nick Bosa doesn't doubt his team's talent. The San Francisco 49ers boast one of the best rosters in the league, with many expecting a return to the playoffs for the Bay Area squad. The fourth-year defensive end knows the team is capable of much more, though.

"Obviously there's a lot of uncertainty with a new quarterback," Bosa told Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group. "You never know how good they're going to be, because you haven't seen them play. But I like what I saw from him last year and I know that our team is good enough to win the Super Bowl."

Trey Lance is that "uncertainty." The second-year quarterback enters his first season as a full-time starter after limited action in 2021 as Jimmy Garoppolo's backup. Now, the 49ers have put their trust in the 22-year-old quarterback, and Garoppolo will serve as Lance's backup.

San Francisco opens its regular season on Sunday against the Chicago Bears. While the 49ers are favored, all eyes will be on Lance and how he performs at Soldier Field.

"The first few games will say a lot about how our offense is going to operate," Bosa added. "But as a team, we're in the best position we've been in, including '19. Our secondary is going to allow the D-line to really become the top unit in the league, which I'm super excited about.

"We have tons of weapons. Obviously we have Deebo (Samuel), and I think the O-line will come together. But we've got to see what Trey can do, for sure."

Speaking of Deebo Samuel, the star wideout signed a massive contract extension during training camp. Bosa is among those who are up next. That can be stressful for some, but the defensive end has enough confidence in the organization that he isn't sweating it.

"I have a lot of faith that when the time comes, it will be smooth," Bosa said. "I know it's one of the hardest negotiation units up there with Paraag (Marathe, EVP of football operations) and all those guys. But I think when they know your value."
