On Wednesday, Emmanuel Moseley underwent successful surgery to repair the damage caused when the San Francisco 49ers cornerback suffered a torn ACL on October 9 against the Carolina Panthers. Why the 17-day delay? Surgery had to wait until the swelling in his knee subsided.
Moseley, 26, is in the final year of the two-year, $9.4 million deal he signed in 2021. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the season. Deommodore Lenoir has been starting in his place since the injury.
Moseley was on pace for a career year. He earned a career-high 71.0 overall Pro Football Focus grade through five games. This season, opposing quarterbacks owned a 63.5 passer rating while targeting the fifth-year defensive back.
"I was just fired up for him to have a complete year, and he did a lot of great things for us," defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans said two weeks ago. "So that's tough to replace. It's hard to replace a guy [like that]. We try to do our best with the guys that we have but losing Moseley definitely hurts. He's just such a great teammate, great person, great player for us, and we're truly going to miss him."
San Francisco signed Moseley as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee in 2018.
