San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel emerged from Sunday's loss against the Kansas City Chiefs with a hamstring injury. The star player didn't practice on Wednesday and wasn't on the field with his teammates for the start of Thursday's session.
On Wednesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that Samuel is "making progress" regarding his injury. Samuel has 32 receptions for 387 yards and two touchdowns through seven games this season. He also has 24 carries for 138 rushing yards and a score.
Also missing his second consecutive practice is wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who is also dealing with a hamstring injury. Jennings has caught 14 passes for 180 through seven games this season.
No Deebo Samuel or Jauan Jennings to start practice
Defensive lineman Arik Armstead (foot, ankle) was also noticeably absent.
The 49ers have one more practice scheduled for this week—a 12:18 p.m. session on Friday. The team is preparing to travel south for Sunday's matchup against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium.
San Francisco will release an official practice participation report this afternoon. Reporters are only allowed to observe the portion of practice before team drills.
