The San Francisco 49ers' streak of second-half shutouts continues. Although, it looked like that was in jeopardy a couple of times in the second half. Another streak ended after Sunday's 13-0 win over the New Orleans Saints. Head coach Kyle Shanahan couldn't say, "No injuries to report," something he had done in the previous three games.

The 49ers lost two key players in the game. Running back Elijah Mitchell and guard Spencer Burford exited with injuries. Mitchell was ruled out with a knee injury, while Burford was sidelined due to an ankle injury.

After the game, head coach Kyle Shanahan said Mitchell may have suffered another MCL sprain of his knee, but it's not believed to be as severe as the one he sustained in Week 1. However, he will likely miss some time. The previous MCL injury forced the running back to miss seven games.

Burford suffered an ankle sprain. The good news is that it's not believed to be a high-ankle sprain.

"They said they thought it was a lateral one, which is much better than a high one," Shanahan said. "But it was too bad to go back in, though. That's all we know now."

In other 49ers injury news, running back Christian McCaffrey is dealing with some knee irritation, and wide receiver Deebo Samuel suffered a quad contusion. Both players returned to the game after their injuries occurred.

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo took a significant hit to his left knee. He appeared to be in pain after the impact but remained in the game.

"Jimmy, he took some hits today," Shanahan said. "I don't have anything exactly on him, but I know he's sorer than usual, so we'll check him up in here and see how he is tomorrow. But he had a very gutty performance. I know he got hit a bunch in this game, and I didn't see the hit on that. I was looking down the field. But when I looked back, and he was on the ground, you could tell it was pretty physical just by his reaction."
