The San Francisco 49ers could use the NFL Draft to bolster their defensive line. One possibility is Toledo defensive lineman Desjuan Johnson. According to Justin Melo of Pro Football Network, the Niners were among several teams that met with Johnson at the East-West Shrine Bowl earlier this month.
The two Super Bowl participants, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, along with the NFC West-rival Los Angeles Rams, were also among the teams that had conversations with the defender.
Don't sleep on @ToledoFB DL Desjuan Johnson, who had 14.5 career sacks. Have heard that Johnson was unblockable at @ShrineBowl.
San Francisco has several defensive linemen slated to become unrestricted free agents on March 15. They are Samson Ebukam, Hassan Ridgeway, Kerry Hyder, Maurice Hurst, Jordan Willis, and Charles Omenihu.
Johnson (6-3, 265) recorded 10 sacks with the Rockets over the last two seasons. He accrued 65 tackles, 16.5 tackles for a loss, 5.5 sacks, and an interception through 14 games as a senior in 2022, earning first-team All-MAC honors.
