According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 in Houston, the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints conducted private workouts with quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson at UCLA. The 2023 NFL Draft is just over two weeks away.

"Thompson-Robinson has an upcoming visit with the Philadelphia Eagles and is currently visiting the Cincinnati Bengals after previously visiting the Cleveland Browns and conducting private workouts with the San Francisco 49ers and the New Orleans Saints at UCLA, according to league and athletic department sources," wrote Wilson (h/t Niners Wire for the find).

The Niners could be in the market for a rookie quarterback. The team has Brock Purdy, Trey Lance, and Sam Darnold on the roster. However, Purdy is expected to still be recovering from offseason elbow surgery until at least September. Lance is returning from two surgeries after a season-ending ankle injury in September. However, he is expected to be full-go when the 49ers take the field in May for organized team activities (OTAs).

Thompson-Robinson completed 69.6 percent of his passes for 3,169 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in his 13 starts for the Bruins in 2022, adding 645 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns, per Sports Reference. His completion percentage ranked sixth in the nation.

The 23-year-old quarterback has completed 63.3 percent of his passes for 10,710 yards, 88 touchdowns, and 36 interceptions in his five seasons at UCLA, adding 1,826 total rushing yards and 28 rushing touchdowns.

San Francisco owns 11 selections in this month's draft but lacks picks in the first, second, and fourth rounds.

Thompson-Robinson is from Las Vegas, NV. He earned a pre-draft grade of 5.69 from NFL.com, which equates to a "chance to make a roster or practice squad," per the site's 8-point grading scale.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6-foot-2 and 203-pound Thompson-Robinson had a 40-time of 4.56 seconds, a vertical jump of 32.5 inches, a broad jump of 121 inches, a 7.28-second three-cone drill time, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.44 seconds. His other measurables include an arm length of 30 5/8 inches and hands measuring 9 7/8 inches.

"Five-year starter with below-average size, above-average mobility, and a recent history of improvement at the position," wrote Lance Zierlein of NFL.com in his scouting report of the quarterback. "Thompson-Robinson played in a favorable scheme for quarterbacks, but he also improved as a field-reader over time. While he can extend plays and create opportunities for himself outside of the pocket, he's at his best when he's throwing on time and utilizing possession throws as his base. He has lapses in vision and judgment against zone and when pressured, so he must cut down on ill-advised throws. Thompson-Robinson has the potential to find a home as a QB3 with a QB2 ceiling."

Albert Breer speculates on trade destinations for 49ers WR Deebo Samuel

By David Bonilla
May 2

The most likely scenario is that both Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel will be on the San Francisco 49ers roster come Week 1. Unless there are unforeseen financial constraints, trading either player doesn't seem sensible with the 2024 NFL Draft in the rearview mirror. The 49ers wouldn't easily replace either wide receiver's value at this point unless another team makes an enticing offer involving a player and a draft pick. Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated recently addressed fan questions, including whether Samuel might be traded and, if so, to which team. As he recently stated during an appearance on "The Herd," Breer noted that he initially leaned towards Aiyuk being the likelier

NFL exec praises 49ers' Ricky Pearsall pick; Another believes Deebo Samuel is out next year

Mike Sando of The Athletic frequently taps into the insights of NFL executives across the league to gather intel and opinions on NFL developments, the latest being the 2024 NFL Draft. In his recent discussions with NFL executives about the San Francisco 49ers, the spotlight was on the wide receiver position. One unnamed NFL executive praised the 49ers' choice of wide receiver Ricky Pearsall with the No. 31 overall pick. "We loved that receiver," the executive told Sando. "The first round is probably a little high for him, but if they want the fifth-year option with him, fine." That's an interesting perspective that has yet to receive much attention regarding Pearsall's selection. First-round picks come with a team option for a fifth year, which

Former NFL QB makes bold statement about 49ers' Brock Purdy

By David Bonilla
May 2

Brock Purdy's standing in the hierarchy of NFL quarterbacks remains a contentious topic. While many argue that the San Francisco 49ers' signal-caller deserves a place near the top of quarterback rankings, others contend that Purdy is merely a game manager or a beneficiary of head coach Kyle Shanahan's system. Regardless of these debates, one thing seems increasingly likely: Purdy will become the highest-paid player on the 49ers' roster next offseason and will skyrocket toward the top of the NFL's highest-paid players, especially if he turns in another season like his record-breaking 2023 campaign. Purdy has found a believer in former NFL quarterback turned analyst Chase Daniel, a 14-year veteran of the league. "Brock Purdy is a top 3 or 4 quarterback
