After Thursday's joint practice between the San Francisco 49ers and Las Vegas Raiders, Brock Purdy stepped up to the podium. The teams will scrimmage again on Friday morning, preparing for Sunday's exhibition opener at Allegiant Stadium.

As you know, Purdy is returning from offseason surgery to repair the torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow, an injury sustained in January's NFC Championship Game. It's been one of the biggest 49ers-related offseason storylines. The quarterback has been practicing since the start of training camp and provided an update on his recovering arm.

"I'm still trying to work my way up in terms of volume, velocity, and throwing at practice and all that kind of stuff," Purdy said, noting that Raiders players have asked him about the injury and his recovery. "But yeah, a lot of people are interested and curious and stuff, but they mean it in a great way and in great intent, just to check up and see how I'm doing."

Is the second-year quarterback satisfied with his recovery progress?

"Yeah, my arm feels great," Purdy answered. "Just still building back-to-back days and trying to gain all the strength that I can back from, obviously, just the rehab process of things. And I feel really confident."

Purdy said his daily routine, at this point, is no different than last year, except for some rehab exercises he does after his regular recovery work from throwing.

"My routine really hasn't changed," Purdy said. "I feel like I'm back to a normal routine with my arm and stuff. Obviously, taking care of it as much as I can on an off day and whatnot, but I feel almost back to normal."

Purdy is not expected to play in Sunday's game, making these two joint practices very important for the recovering quarterback in terms of reps before the start of the season.
