San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to reporters via a conference call on Saturday, the day after the team's preseason finale against the Los Angeles Chargers. The coach provided the following injury updates.

Tight end Cameron Latu will most likely require meniscus surgery. The 49ers must make a roster decision on him before Tuesday's roster cutdown deadline. If Latu remains on the 53-man roster past the deadline and then lands on injured reserve, he can return this season. His season is done if he lands on injured reserve before the deadline.

The 49ers' two kickers are ailing. Jake Moody has been dealing with a strained right quad and is considered week-to-week. Zane Gonzalez suffered a calf strain during Friday's pre-game warmups and will miss a few weeks. San Francisco might need to bring in another kicker.

"I've never been in this situation before where we have two really good kickers in our camp, and a few days before the final 53, both kickers aren't available at this time," Shanahan said. "So I think these next couple of days are real important just for us to see how the rehab is going and things like that, and then trying to guess where it's going to be two weeks from now when we kick off."

Running back Jordan Mason is working through a foot sprain and is day-to-day. Wide receiver Chris Conley is also day-to-day but with an AC sprain. Cornerback A.J. Parker is working through a hamstring injury and is expected to miss a few weeks. Safety Tayler Hawkins broke his hand and requires surgery. He will be out for some time and is a candidate for injured reserve.

Safety Talanoa Hufanga has a fluid-filled cyst behind his knee, causing some tightness. He did not play against the Chargers. However, the safety is not expected to miss much more time and could be fine to practice in the coming days.

Said Shanahan: "He's been resting these four days, and he should be good to go real soon."

Like Hufanga, running back Elijah Mitchell did not play in Friday's game.

"Elijah, his abductor has been tight," Shanahan said. "No pulls or anything, but it was tight, so we didn't want to push him, especially with his history."
