The San Francisco 49ers announced that they have opened the practice windows for defensive lineman Robert Beal Jr. (injured reserve list), cornerback Darrell Luter Jr. (physically unable to perform list), and cornerback Samuel Womack (injured reserve list).
Luter initially landed on the physically unable to perform list on July 18 due to what was reported to be a bone bruise in his knee. Beal found himself on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury on August 30, while Womack joined the list on September 16 after sustaining an MCL injury.
Should Beal and Womack eventually be activated, it would leave wide receiver Danny Gray as the sole 49ers player still on injured reserve but eligible to return. The wide receiver landed on injured reserve on August 30 due to an SC joint sprain.
"Yeah, these guys, I think we're on the verge of we've got to make that decision," general manager John Lynch recently responded when asked about the team's players on injury lists. "Kyle and I will have some conversations and, obviously, with the counsel of our health and performance staff, but these guys are ready to have their windows open. But you also have to have roster spots available.
"But, I do believe a couple, if not a few, are on the verge of having their windows open. At some point, we've got to see what they can provide us."
