Nick Bosa, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, took the opportunity on Wednesday morning to endorse his San Francisco 49ers teammate, Fred Warner, for consideration for the prestigious honor.

Warner has surpassed 100 tackles in each of his six NFL seasons. In his 13 starts this season, he has also contributed two sacks and hauled in a career-high four interceptions.

"He's got some numbers this year," Bosa said on 95.7 The Game's "The Morning Roast" show. "I think the most picks he's had to this point. But he's so consistent and just the standard of being a leader for this team, and he holds himself to such a high standard that it kind of motivates me each and every day.

"And it's just [so] comforting just knowing that you got Fred on the field. You think that you could get a stop no matter what. So just having him, since I've been here, he's grown. We've both grown together, and I think it's pretty clear that he's the best linebacker in the game by a pretty big margin."

Switching gears to the team's impressive second-year quarterback, Brock Purdy, Bosa shared his initial impressions of the quarterback, who has become a significant part of the team's success. Bosa admitted that with Purdy buried on the depth chart last season, he didn't pay much attention to the rookie player.

When asked about his first impressions of Purdy, Bosa responded, "He was a nice kid and seemed like a pretty talented practice squad guy."

However, injuries to two quarterbacks paved the way for Purdy to showcase his talent. His first significant action came against the Miami Dolphins. He has started every game since, even after undergoing offseason surgery to repair the UCL injury suffered in last season's NFC Championship Game.

Reflecting on Purdy's unexpected rise, Bosa said, "I think it's one of the most pleasant surprises of my life, Brock Purdy coming in here and being an MVP-caliber quarterback and just such a humble, good dude. And a lot of people change up when they have success, and it's definitely not who he is. He just keeps impressing week in and week out. It's a really unbelievable story."
