For the third consecutive week, the San Francisco 49ers claimed the top spot in power rankings as the best team in the NFL—at least when it comes to public perception. With playmakers at every offensive position, an MVP-caliber quarterback in Brock Purdy efficiently distributing the ball to a multitude of weapons, and a defense capable of taking over a game at any moment, the team is a formidable force.
The 49ers are preparing to host the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas night. It will be a clash of conference titans, with each team currently perched atop their respective playoff standings. The winner will likely emerge as the Super Bowl favorite for the remainder of the season.
Which of the two teams is the best? Fullback Kyle Juszczyk joined the "Jim Rome Show" on Tuesday morning and was asked about his talent-rich roster. Are the 49ers the most complete team in the NFL?
"Ah, man, you're setting me up for some bulletin board material here, I feel like," Juszczyk cautiously responded. "But I will say that we're extremely confident in what we have, and we do feel like we have a very complete team and we're ready to go toe-to-toe with anybody on Sundays."
The 49ers weathered a three-game losing streak in October, a period marked by injuries to wide receiver Deebo Samuel and tackle Trent Williams. Since their return, San Francisco has won six straight.
"We've always felt like that was our ceiling, that if we're healthy, we can be the best team in this league," Juszczyk said. "And right now, we feel like we're performing at that level."
However, heading into Week 16 as the perceived best team means nothing. Juszczyk emphasizes the need for the 49ers to prove themselves each week. After all, a lot can happen between now and Super Bowl Sunday.
"It's so easy to get labeled as the best team in this category, the best team in this," Juszczyk continued. "You look at your ranking, and that's all awesome, that's good stuff, but it never guarantees anything. At the end of the day, you still got to play the game.
"And it doesn't matter if we're the best team in the league and we're playing the worst team in the league. Yeah, we probably have a better chance; odds are in our favor, but at the end of the day, nothing's 100 percent. So we still got to go out there and prove it each week."
