Former Raiders executive Amy Trask didn't mince words when discussing the playoff quarterback lineup. She made it clear that she believes there is a significant talent-level gap between San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy and the seven other signal-callers.
"Four games, eight quarterbacks," Trask recently stated on the "What the Football" podcast. "Seven terrific quarterbacks and Brock Purdy."
Trask clarified her comment, emphasizing that she doesn't consider Purdy a bad quarterback, adding, "Now, Brock Purdy is a good quarterback, make no mistake about it. Everybody be calm, Forty Niner fans. I'm not suggesting Brock's not a good quarterback. He is. I simply don't put him in the same category as the other quarterbacks. So I'll say it again: Eight quarterbacks, seven terrific quarterbacks, and Brock Purdy."
When asked to elaborate on her opinion of Purdy, Trask explained, "It's not that I don't like him. It's not that I dislike him. He does things very well. He is surrounded by a tremendous, tremendous supporting cast, both on offense and defense. He is a good quarterback. I don't put him in the category of the other seven."

Purdy had an outstanding regular season, setting a single-season 49ers record with 4,280 passing yards and earning an NFL-leading 113.0 passer rating. At one point, he was even in the discussions for NFL MVP.
Trask joined 95.7 The Game to discuss her comments further, admitting that she has felt some backlash from fans.
When asked if she believes Baker Mayfield, another remaining playoff quarterback, is better than Purdy, Trask responded, "I think Baker Mayfield is doing what he's doing with far less talent around him than Brock has around him. Now, maybe I didn't explain that well. Although, I do think I was very clear that I think Brock is a very good quarterback and that I think he's surrounded by a tremendous, tremendous cast that [general manager] John Lynch and the 49ers have put together."
Trask admitted that categorizing Mayfield as "terrific" might have been an overstatement. However, she clarified, "When I look at the eight quarterbacks ... I don't put Brock at the top of that eight. I probably do put him at the bottom of the eight."
