San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan stepped up to his riser at "Super Bowl Opening Night" and was quickly asked about the field at UNLV, where the team will practice this week. And yes, they will practice there this week, according to the coach.

"We're not worried about it at all," Shanahan affirmed. "It is what it is. We're here. We won't change anything."

The coach expressed optimism that the field conditions will improve over the course of the week.

"We're not going to completely change our schedule, do something crazy," Shanahan added. "We'll deal with what we've got, and we're good."

On Monday morning, Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reported that the 49ers found the UNLV field "a bit soft for their liking." That opinion was formed last week after the team sent equipment staff and grounds team members to Las Vegas to assess the conditions.

Matt Barrows of The Athletic even reported that the 49ers flirted with the idea of flying back to the Bay Area following Monday night's media event so they could practice on their home turf ahead of Sunday's game.

That won't happen. The 49ers have decided to stay in Las Vegas for their Super Bowl 58 preparations against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Commissioner Roger Goodell addressed the situation on Monday, asserting that the NFL deems the fields "playable" despite the 49ers' reservations. The league had laid natural grass over UNLV's artificial turf in anticipation of the NFC champions' arrival.
