According to Eric Edholm of NFL Media, former Rutgers defensive back Max Melton has met with the San Francisco 49ers several times since the Senior Bowl. While Edholm doesn't explicitly state that one of those meetings occurred this week at the NFL Scouting Combine, teams tend to at least informally speak to all of the draft prospects at the event in Indianapolis.
Melton (6-0, 190) revealed to Edholm that he had spoken with the 49ers "about five or six times" so far and shared that he is a long-time fan of the team.

In 2023, Melton recorded 32 tackles, including four for a loss, three interceptions, six passes defensed, and a forced fumble, per Sports Reference. He even earned a sack. Opposing quarterbacks earned a 65.7 (NFL) passer rating while targeting Melton.
Over his four seasons with the Scarlet Knights, Melton amassed 111 tackles, including 8.5 for a loss, eight interceptions, a touchdown, and 22 passes defensed.
Most of Melton's 2,040 career defensive snaps came at outside cornerback. Although, he did log 112 snaps at the nickel position.
