It will come down to what makes the most financial sense for the San Francisco 49ers. Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that, based on conversations with other teams, there's a growing sentiment that the 49ers are now more likely to trade wide receiver Deebo Samuel following the selection of former Florida wide receiver Ricky Pearsall with the No. 31 overall pick.

Leading up to and during the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, most of the trade chatter centered around wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. Speaking to reporters after the selection of Pearsall, general manager John Lynch insisted that the 49ers remain diligent in negotiating a contract extension with last season's team-leading receiver.

"The thing I'm excited about right now with B.A., there's a lot of positive talk," Lynch said. "We're having a lot of good discussions, working, efforting towards trying to get something done and we're excited to continue on that," Lynch said.

However, nothing is off the table when it comes to either player.

Lynch noted, "You never close the door on a trade. We'll always listen, and we have."

There were reports that several teams checked in with the 49ers throughout the draft's first round. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said he doubted a deal would happen before the team selected at No. 31. However, he didn't rule out the possibility of a deal involving one of the 49ers' star wideouts getting done before the second round of the draft kicks off.

"Everything's about trying to improve our team as much as we can for 2024 without jeopardizing [2025] as much as possible," Shanahan said. "So that's everything you look into. And whenever that opportunity comes, whichever way, if you can improve your team, you do that."

Just when you thought the rumors might die down, it sounds like they could continue into Day 2 of the draft.
