The San Francisco 49ers held their fifth training camp practice, once again with fans in the stands. The Monday morning session was the first padded practice of training camp.

Below are some tidbits from the 10:25 a.m. PT session, compiled from various sources.

Noteworthy non-participants

Aiyuk continues his hold-in and is not participating in practices.

Did not report list/hold out

The 49ers have activated rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (hamstring) from the non-football injury (NFI) list.

Quick notes

Neither Pearsall, tight end George Kittle, nor cornerback Charvarius Ward participated in team drills. With Burford still sidelined, rookie offensive lineman Dominick Puni once again worked with the first-team offense. With Brendel out, Nick Zakelj received some snaps at center with the first-team unit.

According to David Lombardi of The Athletic, the 49ers offense was "shaky" in its first red-zone session of training camp.

Cornerback Isaac Yiadom deflected a Brock Purdy-thrown ball intended for tight end Logan Thomas. It flew into the air and into linebacker Fred Warner's hands. It was the first of three interceptions the 49ers' starting quarterback threw. Cornerback Deommodore Lenoir and safety George Odum came away with the other two. The Warner and Odum picks came in red-zone situations.

According to Nick Wagoner of ESPN, Lenoir's interception was off an overthrown pass as tight end Brayden Willis failed to run interference.

"[Purdy] tried to lead tight end Brayden Willis with a deep throw down the sideline," Matt Barrows of The Athletic added.

Odum's interception came from a forced throw to wide receiver Deebo Samuel, which the safety easily stepped in front of for the grab.

Grant Cohn of Sports Illustrated notes that Purdy missed a deep pass intended for wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

While Purdy's three interceptions are noteworthy, it's important to remember that he also threw several picks in last year's training camp and still went on to have one of the best statistical seasons of any 49ers quarterback in franchise history.

Barrows recorded Purdy completing five of his 12 pass attempts during team drills. Backup quarterback Josh Dobbs was 5-of-8 for the day, while Brandon Allen was 2-of-7.

"Purdy was under pressure on two of his interceptions Monday, which has been a theme so far this camp," Barrows remarked.

Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group noted that rookie tight end Mason Pline made a nice catch on a 15-yard pass from Dobbs. Samuel was knocked to the ground twice in the opening period, first by safety Ji'Ayir Brown and then by safety Tayler Hawkins.

Wagoner wrote: "TE [Cameron] Latu, who had a rough rookie camp before a season-ending injury last year, made his first catch in team drills on Monday, grabbing a pass in stride from Brandon Allen early in team [drills]."

Second-year kicker Jake Moody has only missed one field-goal attempt during training camp. He was 4-for-4 on Monday, hitting from 38, 42, 43, and 48 yards out.

Wagoner reports that running back Jordan Mason has been getting most of the work on McCaffrey's rest days. When healthy, Elijah Mitchell has typically served as McCaffrey's primary backup.

"We'll see how camp plays out, but I love both of those guys," Shanahan commented.

Rookie cornerback Renardo Green broke up a pass intended for wide receiver Jauan Jennings while in tight coverage.

"Green and Jennings timed their jumps well but Green played it perfectly. He has mostly worked in the slot but sprinkled in a bit outside today," Wagoner wrote, calling the play one of the best of the day.

Wide receivers Pearsall, Trent Taylor, and Ronnie Bell practiced catching punts during special teams drills.

Injury updates

Burford has yet to undergo surgery on his broken hand as he awaits one more opinion from a doctor.

Defensive end Drake Jackson will miss all of training camp as he continues to recover from knee surgery.

Cowing, Martin, and Guerendo are dealing with hamstring injuries. Cowing and Martin could return next week, while Guerendo is expected to miss "a few weeks."

Next practice
