The San Francisco 49ers will play the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium on Friday night in the preseason finale for both teams. Following this game, the focus will shift entirely to preparations for the regular season.

Here are some key dates to remember as Week 1 approaches:

Tuesday, August 27: Roster cutdowns
By 1:00 p.m. PT, NFL teams must reduce their rosters to a maximum of 53 players on the active/inactive list. This deadline is crucial as teams finalize their lineups and make difficult decisions about which players will continue into the regular season.

Wednesday, August 28: Waiver wire claims end; practice squads
The claiming period for players placed on waivers during roster cutdowns ends at 9:00 a.m. PT. After this time, and upon notification from the league, teams can begin forming their 17-player practice squads. Additionally, starting at 1:00 p.m. PT, any player placed on the injured reserve or reserve/non-football injury lists may be designated for return later in the season.

Monday, September 9: New York Jets at San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers will host the Jets at Levi's Stadium in the final game of Week 1. This matchup marks the official start of the regular season for the 49ers, kicking off their 2024 campaign.
