The San Francisco 49ers have re-signed tight end Logan Thomas to a one-year deal. To clear space on the roster, the team waived/injured safety Tayler Hawkins.

Thomas (6-6, 250) initially joined the 49ers on June 4. Originally drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth round (120th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft, Thomas has played in the NFL for eight years, with stints on the Cardinals (2014), Buffalo Bills (2017-18), Detroit Lions (2019), and Washington Commanders (2020-23). Throughout his career, he has appeared in 94 games, including 57 starts, and recorded 219 receptions for 2,002 yards and 16 touchdowns.

In 2023, Thomas played in 16 games, starting 15, for the Commanders, finishing the season with 55 receptions for 496 yards and four touchdowns.

Hawkins initially signed with San Francisco as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He signed a reserve/future contract on February 13 after appearing in one game last season, where he recorded four tackles, an interception, and a pass defensed in Week 18 against the Los Angeles Rams.
