Matt Maiocco shared some encouraging news on Sunday. San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall's condition has been upgraded to "fair," according to San Francisco General Hospital. Pearsall has been hospitalized since Saturday after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest as the victim during an attempted robbery.
Good news: 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has been upgraded to "fair condition," reports Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. Pearsall spent the night in the hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest as the victim of an alleged armed robbery attempt.
Both Pearsall and the suspect, who was immediately apprehended, were shot in the altercation.
Shortly after the incident, the 49ers released a statement saying Pearsall was "in serious but stable condition."
On Sunday morning, the player's mother, Erin Pearsall, provided an update on Facebook: "He was shot in the chest and it exited out his back. Thanks be to GOD it missed his vital organs."
The 49ers selected Pearsall out of Florida with the No. 31 overall pick. The wide receiver had been impressive during the offseason but suffered a setback due to a shoulder subluxation, a partial dislocation, forcing him to miss much of training camp and the entire preseason. He returned to practice last week.
Just hours before the shooting, Pearsall had been signing autographs at an event at the Cow Palace in Daly City.
