San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan joined Bay Area radio station KNBR on Thursday to provide an update on two recent additions to the team's injury list. Tight end George Kittle missed practice due to a hamstring injury, while cornerback Charvarius Ward was sidelined with hamstring and knee issues.

The 49ers were already set to be without wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who is dealing with a calf strain, and running back Christian McCaffrey, currently on injured reserve with Achilles tendinitis. Adding Kittle and Ward to the list of unavailable players would be a significant blow for a team looking to rebound from a Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Shanahan was asked if Kittle and Ward are in danger of missing Sunday's matchup against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium.

"They possibly could," Shanahan admitted. "I got to think of my coach talk right now. They will end up being questionable, I'm sure. But yeah, they had good practices yesterday. They complained of some soreness after practice and they came in this morning with it. So we weren't going to put them out there today and have them get real hurt.

"So hopefully, they come in tomorrow feeling better and can get some work in because definitely hoping those guys can be available on Sunday. But, if not, got to go to the next guys up."

The 49ers are expected to announce the official game statuses of their injured players on Friday afternoon before traveling to Southern California.
