Multiple reports state that the New York Jets have parted ways with head coach Robert Saleh following a 2-3 start to the season. Saleh, who posted a 20-36 record during his tenure, could not achieve a winning season, with the Jets finishing 7-10 in each of the past two seasons.

Saleh joined the Jets in 2021, carrying a strong reputation as a defensive strategist after a successful four-year stint as the San Francisco 49ers' defensive coordinator. From 2017 to 2020, he transformed the 49ers' defense into one of the league's elite units, helping them reach the Super Bowl during the 2019 season.

This year, the Jets' offensive struggles were notable—they currently rank 27th in total yards, 32nd in rushing, and 19th in passing. However, their defense ranks second in total yards allowed, 14th in rushing yards allowed, and second in passing yards allowed.

Saleh's coaching career began as an intern with the Houston Texans and then spanned positions with the Seattle Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars before his time with the 49ers. He is 45 years old.
