49ers announce roster moves in preparation for Chiefs game

The San Francisco 49ers officially announced three previously-reported roster moves. The team signed safety Adrian Amos and kicker Anders Carlson to the practice squad. Wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. was released from the practice squad to make room.

The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown.


Amos (6-0, 214) was originally drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fifth round (142nd overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft. Throughout his nine-year career, he has appeared in 142 games (125 starts) with the Bears (2015-18), Green Bay Packers (2019-22), New York Jets (2023), and Houston Texans (2023), where he registered 650 tackles, 49 passes defensed, 10 interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 6.0 sacks, six fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles. Amos has also appeared in eight postseason contests, where he registered 29 tackles, five passes defensed, and three interceptions. In 2023 with the Jets and Texans, Amos registered 28 tackles, one fumble recovery, and one pass defense. He also appeared in two postseason contests where he totaled one tackle.

A 31-year-old native of Baltimore, MD, Amos attended Penn State University (2011-15), where he appeared in 49 games (38 starts) and registered 133 tackles, 11 passes defensed, seven interceptions and 3.0 sacks.

Carlson (6-5, 219) was originally drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round (207th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. As a rookie in 2023, he appeared in 17 games where he connected on 27 of his 33 field goal attempts (81.8%) and 34 of his 39 extra point attempts (87.2%). Carlson appeared in two postseason contests where he connected on two of his three field goal attempts and seven of his eight extra-point attempts.

A 26-year-old native of Colorado Springs, CO, Carlson attended Auburn University for six years (2017-22), where he appeared in 59 games and connected on 79 of his 110 field goal attempts (71.8%) and 173 of his 176 extra point attempts (98.3%).

Marshall Jr. (6-2, 200) originally signed to the team's practice squad on August 29, 2024.
