According to multiple reports, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has been released from the hospital. The veteran played only a few snaps on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs before being sidelined due to illness.

On Monday, head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that Samuel had been admitted to the hospital after the game with fluid in his lungs and was battling pneumonia.

"It started acting up in the middle of the night, Saturday night, or early Sunday morning, and then it just kind of evolved as the day went," Shanahan explained. "So, once we found out he had the fluid in his lungs and stuff after the game, then I believe they sent him over there. I'm not sure the timeline of it, but I just found out that's where he was on Sunday night when I was at home."

Shanahan was unsure if Samuel would be available for this weekend's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Obviously, the priority is the well-being of their star playmaker.

The 49ers have been plagued by injuries this season. In addition to Samuel's illness, the team lost wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to a season-ending knee injury in the first half against the Chiefs. Jauan Jennings was inactive for the game due to a hip injury. However, Shanahan expressed optimism that the team might get Jennings back this week.

On Monday, while still in the hospital, Samuel shared a heartfelt message on Instagram expressing his support for Aiyuk.

"Know I'm [going to] lay it all on the line for you brother!!! This one hurt [for real]," Samuel wrote.

San Francisco will hold three practices, starting Wednesday, in preparation for their Week 8 matchup against the Cowboys at Levi's Stadium.
