Injury Notes

According to head coach Kyle Shanahan, the 49ers are expected to activate running back Christian McCaffrey from injured reserve on Saturday. His practice window opened this week, and his performance has impressed coaches and teammates. McCaffrey, who has been recovering from Achilles tendinitis, appears set to make his season debut.

McCaffrey is officially listed as questionable, but Shanahan stated, "We'll take him off IR tomorrow, and then he'll be good to go unless something crazy happens on this plane ride. He should be good to go tomorrow once he gets off IR."

Shanahan added, "He had a good week."

When asked about his concerns regarding defensive end Nick Bosa's status for Sunday, Shanahan said, "I am, to a degree. He wasn't able to do a lot. He definitely was extremely limited. Hoping he'll be all right, but we'll see on Sunday."

Shanahan revealed that Bosa's hip injury occurred during Wednesday's practice. "I think it was real early in Wednesday's practice," he noted.

Cornerback Charvarius Ward has been ruled out for this weekend, as he has been in Texas for the funeral of his daughter, who tragically passed away last week.

Wide receiver Chris Conley and defensive tackle Kevin Givens did not practice this week due to injuries. Givens was seen working on the side of the practice field.

Rookie safety Malik Mustapha, who practiced on Wednesday, appeared on Thursday's injury report with a calf injury but remained a limited participant. He was able to practice during the Friday session after sharing the following on social media on Thursday.

Second-year kicker Jake Moody looks ready to return after suffering an ankle injury in Week 5.

"I have a lot of experience with high-ankle sprains, and they're one of the most aggravating, annoying injuries that a player can get," Shanahan shared. "I didn't have any experience with the kicker getting it, especially on his kicking foot, so I just assumed that would be IR and stuff, especially on his kicking foot. But I was kind of surprised. He said it would be worse on his plant foot. Just me not understanding truly how to kick.

"So I was surprised he came back by now. But he's looked great this week, and it's been awesome to have him back, and should be good to go here on Sunday."

Wide receiver Deebo Samuel is officially listed as questionable due to rib and oblique injuries, though he is expected to play. Meanwhile, wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who missed the last two games with a hip injury, was not listed on the game status report, indicating he has been cleared to play.

Below are Friday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Buccaneers, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
