Nick Bosa managed to record a sack on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Still, the San Francisco 49ers' highly-paid pass rusher struggled to be his usual disruptive self in the Week 10 contest, a frustration that grew for the defender as the game progressed.
Bosa wasn't at full strength. After suffering a hip injury in practice this week, there were questions about whether he'd be able to play at all or how much he could contribute. Though officially listed as questionable, Bosa ended up being active at kickoff.
Asked if the injury impacted his performance, Bosa acknowledged, "It was a factor."
He believes some rest will help, so the defensive end may be limited in practice this week as the 49ers prepare to host the Seattle Seahawks at Levi's Stadium.
"I kind of knew that I could push through without it getting too much worse, so that's what I did," Bosa said of his discomfort. "But definitely will evaluate it tomorrow."
Bosa finished the game with four tackles and a sack of Baker Mayfield, though he missed several opportunities in the 23-20 victory.
Despite the 49ers' pass defense holding the Buccaneers to 105 passing yards, Bosa noted that both the pass rush and run defense need to improve.
"The guys on the back end were doing a great job covering them up," Bosa shared. "We weren't getting much of a rush, so they were doing great. But definitely want to clean up the run game."
