San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams may be at risk of missing his second consecutive game. On Sunday, the offensive lineman was sidelined against the Green Bay Packers due to an ankle injury and did not participate in Wednesday's practice. While the 49ers often grant Williams a veteran rest day midweek, his absence this time raises concerns.

Grant Cohn of Sports Illustrated reported that Williams was seen in the locker room trying to avoid putting any weight on his injured ankle. This development doesn't bode well for his availability this weekend.

"And in the locker room, he was seen using a knee scooter, which means his knee was resting on a scooter while his injured ankle was elevated off the ground," Cohn wrote. "Which means he doesn't want to put any weight on it."

Williams sustained the injury during the 49ers' November 10 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and has struggled to stay on the field since. He was a game-time decision against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 11, ultimately playing through the injury. Williams was again a game-time decision for the Packers game but ultimately could not suit up.

The 49ers' offense would benefit from Williams playing against the Buffalo Bills this weekend, especially if quarterback Brock Purdy is cleared to return from a shoulder injury. The team typically waits until game day to make a final decision on Williams' availability, so his status may remain uncertain until then. He was listed as questionable leading up to the Packers game before ultimately being declared inactive.
