The San Francisco 49ers took the practice field on Thursday for the second session of the week, with one more practice scheduled for Friday before hosting the Chicago Bears at Levi's Stadium on Sunday. However, two key starters—defensive end Nick Bosa and tackle Trent Williams—were absent from Wednesday and Thursday's practices.

Bosa has missed the past two games due to hip and oblique injuries. Meanwhile, Williams has also been sidelined for the last two contests as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.
On Wednesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked if there was a chance Bosa might not suit up again this season.
"I'm not God, but I think he's got a chance to play this week." Shanahan responded. "So, I would think that would lead to getting a better chance each week. But I don't know the answer to that."
Shanahan sounded less optimistic about Williams' immediate status while discussing the offensive lineman on Monday.
"Trent's really trying to get back out here," Shanahan said. "It's just his ankle isn't healing the way we want. We can't get the swelling down and stuff. So that's why I'd like to say it's day-to-day, week-to-week, because we're expecting the swelling to go down and everything. It just hasn't.
"So we're trying to be patient with. I know he's being patient with it, and hopefully, it'll take a turn in the right direction this week, but it hasn't yet, so there's no guarantees."
Additionally, guard Aaron Banks was absent from practice as he remains in the concussion protocol.
The 49ers have five games remaining in the regular season. Following this weekend's game against the Bears, the team will face a quick turnaround as they prepare to host the Los Angeles Rams next Thursday.
A full practice participation report will be released later this afternoon.
