At 2-12, the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants are leading the race for the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, with several three-win teams close behind.

The San Francisco 49ers, currently sitting at 6-8, are unlikely to secure a playoff spot. Based on their record and the strength of schedule (SOS) over the entire 17-game schedule, they are currently projected to hold the 15th overall pick.

Please note that this rundown accounts for remaining opponents when calculating the strength of schedule, rather than simply reflecting the current standings if the season ended today. If the season were to end now, the Giants would hold the first overall pick. However, San Francisco would remain projected at the 15th spot.

The 49ers have three games remaining on their schedule. This weekend, they face the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium in a Week 16 matchup. They will then close out their season with a home game against the Detroit Lions, followed by a road game against the Arizona Cardinals.

If the 49ers ultimately select 15th overall, it would represent their highest draft position since trading up to the third overall pick in 2021, where they selected quarterback Trey Lance.

Below is the projected draft order through Week 15, determined using the strength of schedule from the full season. Only the top 18 positions are listed, as the remaining spots will depend on playoff outcomes.

Projected 2025 NFL Draft Order (Top 18)

  1. Las Vegas Raiders, 2-12 record, .538 SOS
