The San Francisco 49ers have released the list of inactive players for their Week 17 matchup against the Detroit Lions. These seven players will not suit up for the game.
Inactives:
RB Israel Abanikanda
QB Brandon Allen
DE Robert Beal (ankle)
G Spencer Burford (calf)
DL Khalil Davis
LB Dre Greenlaw (calf)
CB Charvarius Ward (personal)
Quarterback Brandon Allen is inactive for just the second time this season, which means Josh Dobbs will serve as Brock Purdy's backup.
Safety Ji'Ayir Brown (ankle) and right tackle Colton McKivitz (knee) were listed as questionable heading into the game, but both are active. McKivitz's availability could be crucial, given the injury-depleted state of the offensive line.
Over the weekend, the 49ers had already ruled out defensive end Robert Beal, guard Spencer Burford, linebacker Dre Greenlaw, and cornerback Charvarius Ward. As anticipated, they placed left guard Aaron Banks on injured reserve following the MCL injury he sustained in Week 16 against the Miami Dolphins.
Just hours before kickoff, the 49ers made several roster moves. After opening his practice window last week, the team activated linebacker Tatum Bethune (knee) from injured reserve.
Additionally, the 49ers elevated defensive lineman Alex Barrett and offensive lineman Drake Nugent from the practice squad and claimed cornerback Tre Avery off waivers.
