The San Francisco 49ers are set to wrap up the 2024 regular season this Sunday at State Farm Stadium, where they will face the Arizona Cardinals. Which five Cardinals players could pose the biggest obstacles for the 49ers in this Week 18 NFC West showdown? Let's take a closer look.
QB Kyler Murray
Kyler Murray will look to threaten the 49ers' defense with his legs. With James Connor absent, expect Murray to run when it feels safe. Murray will also look to keep the chains moving with his ability to scramble inside and outside of the quarterback pocket.
WR Marvin Harrison Jr.
Marvin Harrison Jr. is the team's leading receiver with 822 yards. He's second in targets with 110 and leads the team in touchdowns with seven. His speed and ability to get open make him a football-field threat. Although he's a rookie, he is one of the most dangerous wide receivers in the NFL.
WR Michael Wilson
Michael Wilson is their number two receiver who always makes big, explosive plays against the 49ers' defense. He has four touchdowns on the season, and his ability to win in man coverage makes him a threat on the football. Expect Wilson to be a target in the red zone.
TE Trey McBride
Trey McBride may be the Cardinals' secret weapon. He leads the team in targets, receptions, and receiving yards with 136, 106, and 1,081 respectively. He is Murray's safety net and is a matchup nightmare out on the edge. McBride has a unique ability to get open as a tight end, making him most dangerous. Expect McBride to keep the chains moving for the Cardinals.
RB Michael Carter
Michael Carter is the newest running back for the Cardinals. He only has 18 Carries for 88 yards. What makes him a threat is his explosiveness out of the backfield. He's not as physical as James Connor, but if Carter finds the hole and makes the cut, it can lead to an explosive play on the ground.
